Billy Edwards

Billy Johnson Edwards, son of the late Cora Kathleen Edwards and Offle Oscar Edwards, was born in Columbus County on October 17, 1944. After a brief illness, he departed this life at on Monday January 1, 2024 at Columbus County Hospital in Whiteville, North Carolina.
At an early age he gave his life to Christ at St. Bethel Baptist Church in Whiteville, NC. While in New Jersey he joined Messiah Baptist Church of East Orange, New Jersey, where he was an active member of the Usher Board Ministry.
He graduated from Mount Olive High
School in Whiteville, NC. After graduating high school, he relocated to New Jersey where he met and married Dorothy Joyner Edwards. From this union was born one daughter, Cindy Edwards. Later in life he married Marceline Berkley Edwards.
While in New Jersey, he worked for Swepco Tube Corporation for 47 years until his retirement. Upon his retirement he
returned to Whiteville, North Carolina. He was preceded in death by his two
wives, Dorothy Edwards and Marceline
Edwards, his sister Eva Mae Edwards and
his brother Robert Edwards.
He leaves to cherish his memory his loving daughter, Cindy Edwards, one cherished granddaughter, Mikayla McCoard both of Holly Springs, NC, two
brothers, Leslie Edwards (Marilyn) of
Whiteville and Bobby Edwards (Vickie) of Greensboro, NC; and a host of loving, devoted nieces, nephews, relatives, friends, and classmates.
