Covell Todd Jr., 84, of Florence, South Carolina, peacefully passed away on Sunday, September 14, 2025. Born on July 5, 1941, in Tabor City, North Carolina, he was the son of the late Willie Covell Sr. and Lee Ethel Todd.
Mr. Todd graduated from Douglas High School in Tabor City, North Carolina. He was a devoted member of First Baptist Clarendon Church before moving to Virginia to work in the Tobacco Market. After his time in Virginia, he settled in New Haven, Connecticut, where he married and raised three children. He dedicated many years of his life to Winchester Repeating Arms (Olin) in New Haven.
A man of many talents, Mr. Todd cherished time spent with family, enjoyed cooking, was skilled in craftsmanship and carpentry, and had a deep appreciation for music. He was a faithful member of Sweet Hope Church, generously serving as the President of the Usher Board for numerous years.
Mr. Todd is survived by his beloved son, Dornell Todd, and daughter, Chantel Todd, both from Connecticut. He also leaves behind his brother, Ronald Andre Todd of North Carolina; sisters, Estelle Todd of North Carolina, Maggie Todd and Liz Snell (John) of Connecticut; and grandchildren, Shardell Todd, Jade Streater, Marlon Myers, Jahshua Toles, along with great-grandchildren, Kwess Rivers, Marley and Monroe Hemingway, all from Connecticut. He is remembered fondly by a host of relatives and friends.
Mr. Todd was predeceased by his son, Wendell Todd, and siblings, Sadie Todd, Eddie Lee Todd, Rosie Bell Smith, Inez Todd, and Lorraine Todd.
Mr. Todd will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.
