Mrs. Gloria McLaughlin Chapman, was born February 15, 1956 in Maxton,
North Carolina, to the late James and Ethel McLaughlin. Gloria entered into
eternal rest on, May 2, 2022.
She attended Robeson County Public Schools and was in the Class of 1975. Gloria
raised her 5 children who were the most important parts of her life. She worked
hard to provide and ensure that her children always had what they needed. She
retired from Murphy Brown. In 2012 she relocated to Raleigh NC to help raise her
grandsons (Jaylen & Jordan).
Gloria was a devoted mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She was a
woman of many talents. (seamstress, chef, mechanic, carpenter, decorator etc.) She
loved spending time with her sister (Delois) reminiscing about old times and going
to gospel singings. In her spear time she enjoyed coming up with winning lottery
number combinations. Gloria will be greatly missed by her family, friends and all
who knew her.
She was proceeded in death by husband; Michael E. Chapman, son; Malcolm X.
McLaughlin and grandson; TyQuan M. McLaughlin.
Gloria leaves to cherish her memory two son; Willie McLaughlin (Teresa) of
Maxton NC., LaChill McLaughlin of Bronx NY, two daughters; Porsche Hyman
(Demetrius) of Knightdale NC, Constance McLaughlin of St. Louis MO, 2 sisters;
Delois Solomon Stephens of Laurinburg NC, Linda McLaughlin of Pittsburg PA.,
sister in-law; Mary McLaughlin of Rochester NY, 10 grandchildren; Devonte,
Kijur, Hezekiah, Micaiah, Malachi, Rueben, Devonte (DJ), Gabrielle, Jaylen,
Jordan and her dearest friend; Catherine (Cat) Locklear, a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Burial will follow in McLeod Cemetery in Maxton.
