Mr. Sherwood Patterson was born on May 18, 1954, in Robeson County to the late Mr. Angus and Ms. Margie Patterson. He departed this life on Tuesday, October 3, 2023 at home.
He attended school at Pembroke Senior High. He became a member of Holy Swamp Baptist Church at an early age and remained a faithful active member until his death.
Brother Sherwood was a dependable piano and guitar player. He traveled with all choirs when they had to sing at different churches. He also showcased his wonderful talents as lead guitar player for The Spiritual Jubilaries, and The Sensational Swaniaries over the years. He also devoted his time to McCormick Chapel Church as their Piano player.
He loved doing odd jobs with construction and cement laying and tending to the family’s garden. He was the biggest New York Giants fan you could have known win, lose or drawn!
He is preceded in death by his parents Angus and Margie Patterson, sisters Shirley McCallum, Clytherillia Hall, Rena Wallace and a brotherAngus Levon Patterson.
He leaves to cherish his precious memories to his wonderful wife of 50 years Ms. Ruth Patterson to this union 4 children were born, Sister Wanda Patterson, Christopher Patterson, William Patterson and Kimberly Patterson. 3 grandchildren, Deja Patterson, Tre’quan Gordan and Zahki Patterson. 2 great grandchildren Jayshion Patterson and Zavion Lewis. Honorary grandchildren Zabean Lewis and Makiya Rogers. His mother in law Gennet Smith of Pembroke, NC. 2 sisters, Susan Patterson of Raleigh, NC and Naella Love of Red Springs, NC. 1 brother John Wilbur Patterson of Boston, Massachusetts. 2 nieces Tiffany and Nicole Walker of Raleigh, NC. His closest friends Steve Pipkin, Johnny Pipkin, Arie Cade, Larry Evans and Larry Dean Locklear. His sister in laws, brother in laws, a host of nieces, nephews,cousins, family and friends.
